Villanueva is a 4th class municipality located on the central coast of Misamis Oriental Province.
It is bounded on the north by the town of Jasaan, on the east by Claveria and the province of Bukidnon, on the south by Tagoloan,
and on the west by Macajalar Bay.
It has a total land area of square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 9 barangays.
