San Jose is the capital town of Dinagat Island Province. It is located on the southwestern part of the island.
On the north, it is bounded by the town of Basilisa, on the east by Cagdianao, on the south by Dinagat, and on the west by Melgar Bay.
It has a total land area of square kilometers and is politically subdivided into 112 barangays namely :
