Profile

Carcar is located on the southeastern coast of the island province of Cebu. It is approximately 40 kilometers southwest of Cebu City. It is bounded on the north by the town of San Fernando, on the east by Bohol Strait, on the south by Sibonga, and on the west by Aloguinsa and Barili towns. It has a total land area of 116 square kilometers most of which are considered rural areas. Except for some hills in the northwestern part of the city, terrain is mostly flat.

Carcar is considered the gateway to southern part of Cebu Province. It has a highway that leads to both the southeastern and southwestern coastal towns of the island.

Farm products are corn, rice, coconut, rootcrops and vegetables, mango, banana, livestock and poultry. The people in the coastal barangays are mostly engaged in fishing. Cottage industries produce footwear, metalcraft, furniture, and chicharon.

Business Opportunities

Carcar is well-positioned to lead the industrialization of the southern part of Cebu. Carcar Bay can be developed as the location of a seaport through a Build-Operate-Transfer project. Tourism and agriculture are potential areas for investment.
