Profile
Biliran is an island province of the Philippines located in Eastern Visayas
Region. It is situated north of Leyte Province and west of Western Samar. Terrain is mountainous
with narrow coastal flat lands. Rainfall is more or less evenly distributed throughout the year.

In 2007, there were 3 banks operating in the province with total deposits of 687 billion pesos.
Poverty incidence stood at 42.2% in 2006, quite high compared to the national average of 32.9%.
