Welcome to the home of the world-famous rice terraces! Located at the center of Ifugao
province, the idyllic town of Banaue is is bounded on the north and west by Hungduan and Mountain Province,
on the east by Mayoyao, on the south by Hingyon and Lagawe. Like any other town in the Cordillera Region, Banaue is characterized by
high mountains and deep ravines. Climate is cool all year round.

Banaue can be reached in a seven-hour drive from Manila
which is 348 kilometers away or six hours from Baguio
via Pangasinan. Airconditioned buses have daily trips to this town. Travel packages to Banaue usually include a trip
to the town of Sagada in Mountain Province where the famous hanging coffins are found.
An organic rice called Tinawon is a popular rice variety that is grown in the irrigated ricefields. However, such variety
is no longer grown widely due to its susceptibility to pests. With intensive care, it can be commercially produced even in non-irrigated
fields. The cool climate makes Banaue an ideal place to grow temperate vegetables but marketing is still a big challenge unlike
the province of Benguet. The local people are some of the most skilled craftsmen and they produced some of the country's
finest wood carvings, furniture, and woven artifacts.
